The Pi Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated was established on the campus of Georgia State University Friday, February 15, 1985, by Bro. John Day and 14 College students. In the spring of 2001, a student from Clark Atlanta University came to the campus with the hopes of restarting the Chapter.  The student’s name is Brother Anthony Woods.  Along with four other Georgia State University students, they were granted the ability to reinstate the Chapter and begin a new journey for Phi Beta Sigma at Georgia State University.

Currently, The Pi Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc at Georgia State University has grown tremendously over the past three years with the Spring 2014 and Spring 2015 intake classes yielding 26 new initiates. The hard work of Pi Alpha has not gone unnoticed as the chapter has received awards on Georgia State’s  campus for its programming with an emphasis on diversity and leadership. Brothers have received outstanding individual recognition from Georgia State with Brother Fortune Onwuzuirike becoming the chapters first Homecoming Prince in 2014 and Brother Corey Sams receiving Georgia State's first-ever Homecoming Mr. Georgia State University title.

Furthermore, Brothers Corey Sams and Fortune Onwuzuirike were recently awarded the Nell Hamilton Trotter Student Leadership Award for their commitment to academic excellence, community outreach, and campus engagement in consecutive years. The chapter has recently had its second Brother serve as the Student Government Association President in the past five years, Fortune Onwuzuirke. Under the watchful and careful direction of the Lambda Sigma alumni chapter, Pi Alpha has grown to be a revered group of individuals at Georgia State with aspirations of becoming the premier collegiate chapter in Sigma.

The Pi Alpha chapter prides itself on being involved on campus. Not a day passes where a student will not encounter a member of Pi Alpha as we hold numerous officer positions in over ten campus organizations. Outside of the Academic realm brothers build the skills necessary within this chapter to achieve career success as numerous brothers are employed by major US organizations. Each and everyday brothers challenge themselves and live by our motto GOMAB.
